- The Great Kat - Wagner's War
style : hyperspeed
reviewer : Fred label : Blood&Guts/TPR Music
The American guitar prodigy is back with a new CD to express her rage and her battle cry
in reaction to the 9/11 bombing. It's a true fact that these bombing have generated a lot
of patriotic feelings and vocations worldwide especially among American people and
musicians are no exceptions. The CD starts with Wagner's Ride of the Valkyrie totally
speed up and energized, the perfect song to go to war, just like in that Oscars awarded
movie: Apocalypse Now. The following titles are pure Great Kat style songs before closing
the show with two other rearranged classical songs from Liszt and Sarasate. The style has
slightly evolved since Beethoven On Speed, more mature, more orchestrations, especially in
the rearranged musical songs that gives some more strength and impact to her hyperspeed
that she know call shred/classical. In fact, it will be great to hear theses songs with a
fully real orchestration, not a partially orchestra completed by samples. Finally, this
album is a little bit a condensed mix between her two first records: the classical music
transcriptions remind Beethoven On Speed while the others makes me think to Worship Me Or
Die, especially War with its KILL! KILL! KILL! The only regret that we can have with this
album is that it lasts no more that 11 minutes and 6 seconds.that's short and we'd like to
hear some more. That's always been my concern when listening to Kat's CDs.
