Review: The Great Kat: Beethoven’s
Guitar Shred

Hey folks, Valkor here. During my time with TOV I’ve
reviewed some crazy things: hulk Hands, Hello Kitty
Vibe, and Buffalo Poo. But this next review has got to
be the craziest thing I’ve ever reviewed. EVER! From
just the cover of “The Great Kat: Beethoven’s Guitar
Shred” I knew I was gonna be for a ride, but to actually
see the videos….. whoooooooo it’s a ride some might
wanna take once.
First off The Great Kat hardcore metal musician with
some serious shred, I’m talkin bloody fingers fast
dudes. She takes classic tunes and mixes it up with some
metal and produces one unique, fast-paced sound;
Beethoven’s 5th, Flight of the Bumblebee, Bach’s
Brandenburg Concerto #3, all done up metal-style, which
takes some getting used to. And in between each vid you
get some really scary vids, I’m assuming original works.
Now if you’re a fan of metal, you might be used to it,
me personally I’m ok with all the blood, heavy makeup
and scary faces, but “Islamofascist” might turn some
people off.
When you’re done with the main vids (and believe me it
will go by faster than first time sex), then you head on
over to “Shred Bonus Features”. First is “Hot Shred Bits
2”, which are stills either taken from the vids or
another video set to music. Then you have “Shred
Genius”; a very quick look at classic artist and heroes,
ending with the new Beethoven “The Great Kat”. Next up
is “Metal Fugue” which is an additional video that mixes
Bach’s Fugue in G Minor (if I’m not mistaken) with Kat’s
metal riffs. Finally you get the “Shred Kartoon”, which
Kat’s “Flight of the Bumblebee”, with a little cartoon.
Nothing too impressive about the animation, it looks
like an animated oil painting, but the sound is nice. By
the time you get to that point that bumblebee song is
locked in your brain.
The Good:
Again I like the sound of Kat’s music. It’s not
completely original, I mean I’ve heard hard rock and
even techno mixed with classical tunes, but never have I
heard it like this. It’s dark, it’s scary, it’s out of
this world… but I like it. Plus there’s nothing like
seeing a woman spread wide with a guitar between her
legs.
The Bad:
It’s just waaaaaaaaay too fast. I mean it’s over even
before it begins – this is including the extras! A few
more vids would have really rounded this disc.
The Ugly:
Uhhhhh just watch the vid, there’s a lot of stuff that’s
just so unpleasing. But then again that’s what metal is
all about isn’t it.
Overall I gotta say if you’re a fan of heavy metal then
definitely take The Great Kat’s Beethoven’s Guitar Shred
for a spin; it’s a unique spin on classic hits that’s
sure to please. Out of TOV 5 stars, I give Beethoven’s
Guitar Shred a 3.5 and it’s been Valkor tested and TOV
Approved.
