Interview with The Great Kat

Rabishu: Where were you at on the morning of 9-11-01? Can you tell our readers
perhaps about the morning of 9/11 and what were you doing when you first got news of the
attacks on WTC? What was it like for you on this morning?
Great Kat: On the morning on 9/11, The Great Kat, who lives in New York City and
Long Island, NY, was in my recording studio on Long Island, composing and recording music
for my new CD - which ended up being called "Wagner's War" CD. When I
saw the images of the World Trade Center being attacked and being destroyed I was FURIOUS,
OUTRAGED and HORRIFIED!!!!!! I IMMEDIATELY thought it was a TERRORIST ATTACK and the WORLD
WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF AMERICANS THINK THEY ARE SAFE TODAY, they are SADLY
MISTAKEN. IT'S time TO WAKE UP AND GET OUT THERE AND PROTECT OURSELVES from the SICK,
CRAZY BASTARDS, who ARE HIJACKING THE ENTIRE WORLD WITH THEIR MURDEROUS
ABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rabishu: What is the story behind your name? How did you come to call yourself The
Great Kat?
I mean is there a story behind the day you said "The Great Kat" that's the name
im going under? Of course I see where Kat came from your name. But is there more to it?
Did somebody call you The Great Kat first or did you come up with the name yourself?
Great Kat: "KAT" is short for my name, "KATHERINE," and
"THE GREAT" comes from the GREATNESS of being the NEW BEETHOVEN of the 21st
CENTURY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rabishu: When you record your ideas what do you use to compile the riffage, you got
a old 4track or your got a digital pocket studio? I mean, the building up of ideas and all
the arranging of musick, when you are doing all this, do you lock yourself in a room for
hours at a time and just go at it? Or you travel to a rehearsal space?
I'm curious to know how all this madness come together so well on cd and live in concert.
There must be plenty of time spent working on ideas and practicing as a band?
I mean is there a story behind the day you said "The Great Kat" that's the name
im going under? Of course I see where Kat came from your name. But is there more to it?
Did somebody call you The Great Kat first or did you come up with the name yourself?
Great Kat: The Great Kat composes on a Windows PC program for Composition and
Notation. All Classical Scores are entered and are NOTE-FOR-NOTE exact instrumentation
extracted from the original scores. I record LIVE and MIDI instruments using Pro-Tools in
a professional recording studio.
Rabishu: How often do you yourself practice on any one given day? Same question
also about your band as a whole, how often do you all get together in any one given week
to practice?
Great Kat: The Great Kat practices guitar, violin and composes 8-10 hours a day.
The band rehearses right before any CD recordings or tours.
Rabishu: Have you in the past or perhaps maybe still teach upcoming musicians. I
mean do you do like a lot of solo artists and do clinics or have students in your local
area who you bestow upon them some of your knowledge?
Great Kat: The Great Kat is NOT a teacher. I am the NEW BEETHOVEN of the 21st
CENTURY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rabishu: When do you think the world will truly wake up and join the Kat Slave
Army? Or will there only be few chosen upon the face of the earth who can truly comprehend
what your are doing?
Great Kat: THE GREAT KAT IS MANIACALLY SPREADING the WORD of SHRED/CLASSICAL to the
PATHETIC, LETHARGIC MORON MASSES, who would rather sit on their LAZY ASSES and BE LOSERS,
rather than KICK ASS and BECOME GENIUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW GET OUT OF MY WAY and LET ME
GET TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can play faster or better and more accurate than you?
I mean like a Crossroads kinda situation, like Steve Vai and that Karate Kid dude, ever

Rabishu: Is there a device which can measure notes played per second (I'm sure
there is) and if so have you ever been clocked on how many notes you can shred forth per
second? If so what was the count?
Great Kat: The Great Kat would DARE ANYONE to ATTEMPT to PLAY "ZAPATEADO"

Rabishu: I have never read anywhere yet if you are married or have been married. I
know obviously you are not the typical female human being. And do not require a man. You
are strong and independent. But I am wondering at anytime in the past or even now have you
been hitched up with some mortal male human being?

Rabishu: How many guitars does The Great Kat own? Or have you lost complete count?
And Your absolute favorite guitars that you own are which ones? Got any total favorites
you couldn't live without? Although im sure you can shred like a demon on almost any
guitar.

Rabishu: I'd love to just watch you shred on a video but without any switching of
the camera. I mean, the videos I seen on the tape you sent were great, but I couldn't
watch you up close enough. I wanted to know if there are other videos you have that
perhaps just show you shredding and no alternate camera angles, and if so perhaps not so
much switching of the camera. That was the only thing about your videos that threw me off
was I couldn't watch you good enough. Is there bootleg concerts out there somewhere I can
see from only one camera angle? Or do you have any for sale or in your personal
collection?
