- "WAGNER'S WAR" CD Review in Metal Fury Webzine
The
Great Kat - Wagner's War
Wagner's War grabs you by the
balls & rips your throat out!!! The Great Kat shreds her way through this album
non-stop. This album was inspired by the events of September 11, 2001. You can definitely
hear her training in classical music (she is a Julliard graduate), but believe us, this CD
is FAR from being filled with the music you would typically associate with the classical
orchestras. She combines classical AND metal VERY well!!! She did take 3 classical music
pieces & added her own brand of mixing them with shred guitar. The tracks are as
follows:
Act I: WAR
Wagner's "The
Ride of the Valkyries" from the opera "Die Walkure" for Symphony Orchestra,
Band & Opera Singers "War", "Terror"
Act II: REVENGE
"Punishment",
"Humiliation"
Act III: Victory
Liszt's
"Hungarian Rhapsody #2" for Symphony Orchestra & Band, Sarasate's
"Zapateado" for Violin, Piano & Band
According to the
Great Kat herself, she says, "After the VICIOUS & INSANE TERRORIST ATTACKS on my
city, NEW YORK CITY - I have decided to CONFRONT THESE BARBARIANS with SHRED/CLASSICAL
MUSIC!!!" The song "Terror" is a good example. With the screams in
the background, this song invokes memories of that terror filled day in September, 2001.
Any fan of speed or thrash metal should pick this one up!
