CHICK METAL GUITARIST SHREDS BEETHOVEN, BACH (WATCH!)
As gimmicks go, this one’s hard to beat. Meet Great Kat, a foxy, speed metal-loving guitar shredder who, it is written, also happens to be a Juilliard graduate violin virtuoso with a penchant for kicking the stuffing out of classical compositions by giving them rock treatments.
Check out her handiwork below. Somewhere, Swedish axe noodler Yngwie Malmsteen is sighing heavily as his obvious soul mate roams free.
Though she’s new to us, Great Kat has apparently been amassing fans of her lightning-fast metal-meets-classical guitar playing from far and wide: according to a release, she has been named one of the top 10 “Fastest Shredders Of All Time" by Guitar One Magazine, one of the “100 Wildest Guitar Heroes" by Classic Rock Magazine and one of the “50 Fastest Guitarists Of All Time" by Guitar World Magazine.
Here’s an official blurb:
"Beethoven Shreds. The Great Kat is a speed metal guitarist who has now applied her unique talent to Beethoven. The huge shreds displayed on this album will not disappoint fans of the genre. Not only is Kat a great guitarist, she's a classical violinist to boot. Tracks like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony or Bach's Brandenburg Concerto show this off to great effect with riffs that will blow you away. With the amount of talent on show this music can only be appreciated on a concert stage where it can be enjoyed at its fullest."
I especially like her head-snapping run through Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Flight of the Bumblebee.” Enjoy!
