FoundryMusicRob: Being so immersed in both Metal and Classical, what’s something (or many things, if you want) that most modern musicians don’t know, or don’t value, that would do them a lot of good?

The Great Kat: MOST MUSICIANS DON’T REALIZE THAT ALL GENIUS COMPOSERS of CLASSICAL MUSIC WERE BRILLIANT VIRTUOSOS!!!!!! BEETHOVEN! PAGANINI! MOZART! BACH! All these geniuses became virtuosos on their instruments and placed the EXCITEMENT of VIRTUOSITY in their music!!!!! THAT’S WHY their music has lasted!!!!!!!

FoundryMusicRob: Some people’s brains can’t process thoughts at anywhere near the speed that your fingers process notes, and lots of them! I have just one question: How!?

FoundryMusicRob: The rest of your band is male, while you clearly, are not. Do you think there is any pressure on those guys, or do you think they may feel the slightest bit self-conscious playing with someone like you?

The Great Kat: THERE IS MASSIVE PRESSURE TO PLAY UP TO THE TEMPOS OF THE QUEEN OF SPEED, THE GREAT KAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FoundryMusicRob: Be honest, there are a lot of great guitarists out there, and there are a lot of over-hyped players. Who do you think is deserving of the spotlight they get and who should have their 15 minutes cut short?

The Great Kat: THE GREAT KAT IS GOD!!!!! WHO CARES ABOUT THE REST?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

FoundryMusicRob: Blood seems to be a pretty typical prop for your music videos, but I’d imagine it’s quite hard to wash off of a guitar. Ever ruin the electronics with prop blood?

The Great Kat: YES!!!!!! THE GREAT KAT IS PERFECTLY HAPPY TO DESTROY PLENTY OF GUITARS ALL IN THE NAME OF ART and to GIVE MY KAT-POSSESSED FANS THE BLOODY INSANE SHOW THEY HAVE COME TO LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FoundryMusicRob: Seriously though, do you think some people would take you more seriously if you didn’t have the stage persona that you do? Most of the Classical musicians you pay homage to with your work would probably disagree with the way you let the visual element of your act overtake the sonic element.

The Great Kat: Most people don’t know that the famous Classical Composers were actually MANIACS!! Paganini was called THE DEVIL!!!!!! Beethoven was called MAD!!!!!! Mozart was a SEX MANIAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wagner wrote lyrics about INCEST, MURDER, AND OTHER TABOO SUBJECTS!! The Great Kat is FOLLOWING in the PATH of those PSYCHO GENIUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FoundryMusicRob: If you were to incorporate just one other musical style, to mix things up, what would it be?

The Great Kat: SHRED/CLASSICAL is the PERFECT BLEND of SPEED METAL, GUITAR, CLASSICAL and OPERATIC THEATER!!!!!

FoundryMusicRob: If you were approached by an adult film producer, and he asked you to lend your talents to the soundtrack of an upcoming project he’s got, let’s say it’s call “Neoclassical Nymphos,” what would your initial reaction be?

The Great Kat: BOW, PEASANT!!!

FoundryMusicRob: Given your typical wardrobe, would you be offended or flattered if he asked you to make a cameo in a scene?

Being a musician, you get asked a lot of questions about music, your influences, etc. You probably also get a lot of quirky off topic type stuff like I just threw in. But it seems like a lot of people neglect to ask anything outside of those. So, if you would, tell us something about The Great Kat that we’d be surprised to know. Maybe there’s a particular issue in the world that you’re concerned about, or maybe you’re some kind of activist for a cause in your private life. Surprise us.

I normally put links and plugs to the artists down here at the bottom of all the interviews, but unless you were reading this with your eyes shut (which I'd love to see someone pull off!) you got more than enough links to her site and you've probably got a billion windows open right now.

I'll let you all in on a little secret, I had been pretty critical of Kat's playing on a previous DVD that I saw, but I have to admit, the new Beethoven's Guitar Shred DVD is really awesome. So if you're a fan of blood and crazy guitar work, you just might want to grab this one.
