Beethoven’s “Für Elise for Guitar, Violin and Piano” shredded by Juilliard Virtuoso The Great Kat on guitar and violin was released today. Beethoven’s Für Elise is one of the most famous piano works in history and one of Beethoven’s most popular pieces. Found in music for jewelry boxes, TV shows, movies, toys, and even ice cream trucks, the ubiquitous Für Elise (For Elise) was composed in 1810 (Bagatelle #25) and posthumously discovered, causing intrigue throughout Europe as to the identity of “Elise.” Some thought it referred to “Therese,” one of Beethoven’s students and beloveds or possibly the opera singer Elise, whose brother sang the part of Florestan in Beethoven’s only opera “Fidelio”, and whom Beethoven possibly wanted to marry.
