- VLAD THE IMPALER BIOGRAPHY
- VLAD THE IMPALER, "DRACULA", was the Evil 15th
Century Prince of Wallachia, who brutally IMPALED his Victims with a
Sharpened STAKE, killed over 100,000 people and was the Inspiration for
Bram Stoker's "DRACULA"!
-
- VLAD THE IMPALER (VLAD
III)
was born in 1431 in Sighisoara,
Transylvania (Romania). Vlad's father was a member of the
"Order of the Dragon",
a brotherhood who fought the
Ottoman Empire (the Turks).
Vlad's father was known as
"Dracul"
(which means the "Dragon") and
Vlad then became known as the son of the dragon:
"Dracula".
Vlad's father became the
Prince of Wallachia
(Romania) and made an alliance with the Turks, which called for
his son to be imprisoned, to prove his loyalty to the Turks.
-
- In 1447, the
boyars (high-ranking Bulgarians and Wallachians) and the
Hungarian military leader John Hunyadi
rebelled against Vlad's father
and killed him.
Vlad then tried to assume the
throne of his father. He was unable to do so until 1456. At that
point, Vlad Dracula
finally assumed power and became the
Prince of Wallachia
and set out to avenge the death of his father. In 1459, Vlad
began his reign of terror and started getting revenge. He began
by arresting the boyar's families, who he thought were
responsible for killing his father. He impaled the older members
of the families. The other members were forced to build Vlad's
outpost overlooking the Arges River for him. This became known
as the famous "Castle Dracula".
-
- Vlad Dracula became known as "The Impaler"
from his brutal impaling with a sharpened stake.
His victim's slow and painful death was especially cruel. He
attacked an entire village in Bulgaria. He was constantly
attacking the Turks and became known for his brutal resistance
against the Ottoman Empire. He also terrorized churches, foreign
merchants and imposed strict moral codes of sexuality. If one
person defied his rules, an entire village could be executed.
Any foreign enemies who did not follow Vlad's trade laws were
viciously impaled. The town of Brasov, Romania was burned by
Vlad, who impaled the townspeople and ate his meals among their
impaled bodies.
-
- By 1461, Vlad began losing
his power by spending too much money on wars and depleting his
army of mercenaries (who he wasn't able to pay). The Turks had
begun to fight back and forced Vlad to flee his castle. Vlad was
arrested and imprisoned in Hungary.
but by 1474, Vlad once again became
the best choice to become the Prince, which he accomplished by
1475. But many of his subjects went against him and joined the
Turks. Vlad was assassinated at the end of December 1476 (or
beginning of January 1477).
Vlad was a brutal tyrant, who
perfected the art of torture and death by impaling his victims. He would
actually dismember people and force feed their parts to others. The
astounding amount of victims that Vlad The Impaler killed allegedly came
to over 100,000. The life of Vlad The
Impaler was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's famous novel "DRACULA".
