- The 4th THURSDAY in NOVEMBER
-
- The first "Thanksgiving" was held by the Pilgrim
colonists in 1621 in Plymouth. Plymouth Governor William Bradford wanted
to give thanksgiving to God by having a celebration after a successful
harvest. The neighboring Indians, the Wampanoag, were invited to join in
their feast, which included wild fowl, venison, harvest grains, corn,
squash and more.
